Get Inspired to Get Moving on National Walking Day and Beyond

Did you know the first Wednesday in April is National Walking Day? The American Heart Association started it in 2007 in an effort to promote healthy living. They sponsor this day each year to remind people of the health benefits of taking a walk.

How to Celebrate National Walking Day

Take thirty minutes out of your day to go for a walk and use #NationalWalkingDay to post on social media. Here are some great ways to make those 30-minutes more enjoyable:

  1. Wear comfortable clothes
  2. Take a friend to pass the time
  3. Don’t forget to stretch those muscles
  4. Drink plenty of water
  5. Move your arms
  6. Make sure you have good posture
  7. Listen to a podcast, music or audiobook
