One of my goals for 2019 is to replace some bad habits by learning a new skill. I have found in the past that if I replace a habit with something else, rather than just stop the habit cold turkey, I have more success.

Once I choose my new hobby/skill/routine, I have to be willing to fail before I get good at it. Perfection can't be part of the vocabulary here; practice makes progress!
