To the Hon. Robert Lucas

Sir,

Seeing the Governor of Michigan   order which appear decidedly hostile, and as I 
reason to suppose they will be corresponding movements on your pant, I have the honor
ro report the “Mansfie|d..." regularly organized Company of Light Infantry ready to 
on your order for duty should our service be deemed.
Very Respectfully Sir Your Most   Servant. Sam. R. Curtis. Captain. A company
containing about 50 rank & file. Generally young men of  spirit and have been drilling
once in 2 weeks during the ...Notice to equip so as to be fully prepared would be
