Fines and Fees

Overdue Fines: Adult Card

DVDs = 50¢ per day
Books and Audio = 20¢ per day
Juvenile Books = No fines

Overdue Fines: Juvenile Card

DVDs = 20¢ per day
Books and Audio = 10¢ per day
Juvenile Books = No fines

No Overdue Fines: on Ability, Kids and Senior Cards

Additional Service Fees:

Obituary: No fee, limit 3 per request
Collection Agency Fee: $10
AV Case Damage: $5
Power Cord Replacement: $15
Excessive fines or overdue materials may result in loss of Library privileges.

Copying, Printing, Faxing and Scanning Fees

Printing/Copying
Black and White = 15¢ per copy
Color = 50¢ per copy

Faxing, Self-Serve
No charge

Faxing of library materials by staff
30¢ per page if faxing to a location in Lucas County
$1.50 fee plus 30¢ per page to locations outside Lucas County

Scanning
No cost for scanning, printing fees listed above.

Cardholder Account How Tos

Change/Set Pin

  • Click Account
  • Click "Forgot Your Pin?"
  • Enter your library card barcode number
  • Log into the email address attached to your library card
  • Follow steps to reset your PIN

Renew Items

  • Log into your Account using your library card barcode number and PIN*
  • Click "Items currently checked out" from the menu at left
  • Click the box next to the item you wish to renew
  • Click "Renew Selected"

Pay Fines Online

  • Log into your Account using your library card barcode number and PIN*
  • Click "Pay Fines" (if applicable) from the menu on the left
  • You will now be redirected to SmartPay
  • Re-enter your library card barcode number and PIN
  • Click "Pay Fines/Fees"
  • Enter personal and payment information and follow steps to complete payment

Place a Request/Hold

  • Click Catalog
  • Search for item you are looking for and click to view item
  • On item page, click "Request Item"
  • Enter your library card barcode number and PIN*
  • Select the Library location where you would like to pick the item up
  • Click "Submit"

Cancel or Freeze a Hold

  • Log into your Account using your library card barcode number and PIN*
  • Click on the message after your name which indicates how may holds you have
  • Click on the box under the Cancel column (on the left) for any title you would like to cancel
  • Click on the box under the Freeze column (on the right) for any title you would like to freeze
  • Click Update List

Register for Text Message (SMS) Notification

  • Log into your Account using your library card barcode number and PIN*
  • Click "Modify Personal Information" from the menu on the left
  • Under "Mobile Phone" enter your number as directed, then click the "Opt In" box
  • Click "Submit"

To Opt Out:

  • Text STOP to 35143 or
  • Log into your Account using your library card barcode number and PIN*
  • Select "Modify Personal Information" from the menu on the left
  • Under "Mobile Phone" remove your phone number and unclick the "Opt In" box
  • Click "Submit"

Note: This service is not available to Juvenile accounts. Each mobile phone number can only be used for one account.

Save Your Reading History

  • Log into your Account using your library card barcode number and PIN*
  • Click "Turn On Reading History"

NOTE: If the Library is served with a subpoena, your reading history information may need to be surrendered to law enforcement officials.

Set a Preferred Search

  • Log into your Account using your library card barcode number and PIN*
  • Search using the "More Searches" button at the top of the screen
  • After the results are displayed, click "Save as preferred search"

How to Get a Library Card

Visit our library card page to find out what type of card will work best for you or your organization.

Adult Library Cards

  • Photo identification (must be 17 years of age or older)
  • Verification of current address (must be an Ohio resident)
  • Non-Ohio residents may contact the Main Library Circulration Desk for information regarding eligibility for a free or fee library card by calling 419.259.5202

Borrower's Agreement

  • I am 17 years or older and a resident of Ohio
  • I will not share my library card barcode number and PIN with others
  • To report a lost/stolen card immediately and not allow my card to be used by another person
  • To pay all fines/charges for the late return, loss of or damage to all materials borrowed on this card
  • To monitor the online site and content that my minor child(ren) access
  • To accept full responsibility for all actions performed while using the Library’s Internet connection
