Outreach Services

Our Bookmobile, Book Hauler, Mobile Technology Center, and Ready to Read Van hit the streets of Lucas County daily bringing the Library to you.

The Library has a variety of services to bring the Library to you. On a regular basis you might see our Outreach staff in a parking lot with the Bookmobile offering services to a neighborhood, with our Book Hauler transporting materials to senior residential facilities, in our Mobile Technology Center bringing the latest technology and classes to you, on the Ready to Read van preparing every child for kindergarten, or as part of our Homebound Delivery Service bringing books to your door.

As the Library continues to serve the community in new and unique ways, we would like to introduce our Child Care kits.  These custom kits are filled with materials designed for the children (all ages) that you care for …with free delivery!

Ready to Read

To be successful readers, children need to enter kindergarten with a large vocabulary. New research says that children need to be ready to learn to read and write before they enter kindergarten. Nearly 1/3 of Toledo’s children are not ready to enter kindergarten. If parents and caregivers know and use the 5 practices, it can help children get ready for kindergarten!  For questions on Ready to Read contact Outreach Services at 419.259.5350.
