Romantic Reads: Romantic Suspense
Posted on May 11, 2021

According to a study conducted by the Romance Writers of America, romance books are the second highest of all book sales. While romance books typically have the same basic elements of a love story and a happy ending, the content of the books can vary widely across subgenres. Because libraries are listed as the number one place people go for their romance books, I thought we would take a closer look at books in each subgenre through a series of blogs. This month’s featured subgenre is romantic suspense.
Romantic Suspense books have mystery and suspense as a central part of the story, while also giving the reader a true romance. The best books in this genre find a delicate balance between romance and suspense so that neither one dominates the story and provides readers the mix they are looking for.
