Account How To:

The following how to instructions are for use on a desktop or laptop computer. Some account features may not be available on a mobile device.

Change/Set Pin

  • Log into your account using your Library card barcode number and PIN*
  • Click "Edit Pin"
  • Enter a new pin and then enter it again on the line below
  • Click "Submit"

Renew Items

  • Log into your account using your Library card barcode number and PIN*
  • Click "Checkouts" from the menu at left
  • Click the box next to the item you wish to renew
  • Click "Renew Marked"

Place a Request/Hold

  • Log into your account using your Library card barcode number and PIN*
  • Search for item you are looking for and click to view item
  • On item page, click "Request It"
  • Select the Library location where you would like to pick the item up
  • Click "Submit"

Cancel or Freeze a Hold

  • Log into your account using your Library card barcode number and PIN*
  • Click "Holds" from the menu at left
  • Click the appropriate box for the item you wish to cancel or freeze
  • Click "Update List" and the change should appear in our account

View or Export Your Reading History

  • Log into your account using your Library card barcode number and PIN*
  • Click "Reading History" from the menu at left
  • Once here, you have the option to view your reading history, opt out of tracking your reading history, deleting some or all of the items in your reading history or exporting your reading history using the button prompts at the top of this section.

NOTE: If the Library is served with a subpoena, your reading history information may need to be surrendered to law enforcement officials.

Sign up to receive alerts (by email, text or phone)

  • Log into your account using your Library card barcode number and PIN*
  • Click "Edit account"
  • Enter the mobile number, email address or phone number you wish to receive alerts from in the corresponding section
  • Select your "Notice Preference" and then hit "Submit"

Pay Fees Online

  • Log into your account using your Library card barcode number and PIN*
  • Click "Money Owed" (if applicable) from the menu on the left
  • Select "Pay Fines" - you will not be redirected to SmartPay
  • Re-enter your Library card barcode number and PIN
  • Click "Pay Fines/Fees"
  • Enter personal and payment information and follow the steps to complete the payment

* If you do not have or know your PIN, try the "Forgot Your Pin?" prompt or give us a call at 419.259.5200.

Adult Library Cards

  • Photo identification (must be 17 years of age or older)
  • Verification of current address (must be an Ohio resident)
  • Non-Ohio residents may contact the Main Library customer service desk for information regarding eligibility for a free or fee library card by calling 419.259.5202

If you don't meet these requirements, you can still get a library card - visit our Library card page to apply for an eMedia card.

Borrower's Agreement

  • I am 17 years or older and a resident of Ohio
  • I will not share my library card barcode number and PIN with others
  • I will report a lost/stolen card immediately and not allow my card to be used by another person
  • I will pay all fines/charges for the late return, loss of or damage to all materials borrowed on this card
  • I will monitor the online site and content that my minor child(ren) access
  • I will accept full responsibility for all actions performed while using the Library’s Internet connection
  • I will comply with the Library's Code of Conduct
