Lynda.com and LinkedIn Learning

Lynda.com is merging into its parent company LinkedIn to become LinkedIn Learning. The library version will become LinkedIn Learning for Libraries during the first week in May.

Timeline

Before May 5

  • Using the app will prompt you to enter the Library ID number and to create a new account.
  • Creating a new account will erase your Lynda account history.
  • To be sure your account history remains intact, do not use the app and do not create a new account. Instead, use the web version of Lynda.com instead.
  • If you would like to use the app before May 5, the Library ID number is OH0215.

On May 5

  • Neither Lynda.com nor LinkedIn Learning will be available for patrons. Migration begins at about 9:00 a.m. ET and may take two to three hours to complete.

After May 5 (or when migration is completed)

  • The Library will have a new LinkedIn link to replace the link for Lynda. You will be able to find that on the Library website.
  • When you go to LinkedIn Learning for Library, you will enter your library card number and PIN. Much of your history (i.e., certificates earned) should transfer over but saved Learning Paths will not.
  • Your library card is the only connection to your LinkedIn Learning activity. If you lose your card, you can get another, but your LinkedIn Learning history will be lost. Protect yourself by downloading your completed certificates when you earn them.

What will change?

With LinkedIn Learning, you will receive more personalized recommendations for Lynda.com content, suggesting courses, and learning paths that are more closely aligned with your career goals and educational interests.

A LinkedIn account is not required to use LinkedIn Learning for Library. In fact, the library version will not store your name, your email address, or any other personally identifiable information about you. All activity is tied to your library card number.
