The Saloff Children’s Library

Picture yourself seated alongside a wall of enigmas, panels adorned with puzzles awaiting resolution. Alternatively, envision observing as iconic characters from classic youth literature beckon you to explore the realms within books. The George K. Saloff Family Children’s Library is a celebration of your imagination—a place where kids of all ages, from the young to the young at heart, can truly be themselves.

The revitalized Saloff Children’s Library, 100% funded by the generosity of donors, captivates readers and learners. Situated on the second floor of the Main Library, this vibrant hub underwent a transformative renovation, seamlessly integrating new displays with timeless fixtures in 2019. Upon entering, visitors are greeted by the awe-inspiring presence of the Saloff Family model steamship. Returning patrons are enthralled by interactive features such as the Mystery Wall, the MaryKay Anderson Dr. Seuss Wall, and the Jennifer Fisher Nancy Drew Room.

The infusion of new technology and furniture harmoniously blends with the existing Art Deco style. At the light wall, children and caregivers engage in spinning interactive circles to create captivating color patterns. Time-honored features like the Rainbow Fish saltwater tank, Susan M. Savage Creativity Lab, and Gold Cadillac are hallmarks of a Libraryvisit. Students enjoy studying in the Joseph and Judith Conda School Enrichment Room. The Robert L. and Posy Huebner Collection, one of the most extensive collections of original art from children’s books housed in a public library, is prominently displayed.

With more than 75,000 visitors to the Saloff Children’s Library each year, families in our community love their Library space!

Help us welcome the young and the young at heart!
