10 Obscure Zombie Films in Anticipation of “28 Years Later”

Living in a post-Walking-Dead world, our popular culture is quite oversaturated with zombie media (and even oversaturated with specifically Walking Dead media, for that matter). But Danny Boyle’s brilliant film 28 Days Later, and the slightly less brilliant sequel, 28 Weeks Later, remind us that there’s more to zombies than The Walking Dead: sometimes the zombies move really fast and exist all the way over in England. The third entry in the series, 28 Years Later (I guess they decided to skip 28 Months Later?) reunites Boyle with the original writer Alex Garland for what looks to be a promising entry in one of the more respectable zombie franchises in recent memory. We certainly love our classic zombie movies, like Dawn of the Dead and Return of the Living Dead, but in honor of the long-awaited release of 28 Years Later, we’ve dug a little deeper to find some lesser-known films in the zombie genre to give you a fix of bloody, brain-eating goodness.
