10 Exciting Comics You Need for African American Scientist Day

Since their inception, comic books have not exactly been a stellar site of positive African-American representation (or Asian representation or female representation or LGBTQIA+….). Often times, superhero books in particular play into the stereotype of Black men as more physical and less intelligent, but there plenty of brilliant African American scientists, engineers, and inventors as well. So this year for African American Scientist and Inventor Day, be sure to look into some of the biggest characters to proudly carry the banner for S.T.E.M–and in the process push back against harmful, clichéd representations in comics.
