While he’s worked on an impressive assortment of superhero books like Extraordinary X-Men, Hawkeye, and Bloodshot, Lemire seems most at home with more personal, character-driven stories. With Sweet Tooth, Lemire introduces us to 9-year-old Gus, a half human/half deer hybrid who lives in a world ravaged by a mysterious pandemic. Once Gus’ father dies, he leaves his life of isolation, traversing an apocalyptic American wasteland in search the elusive “Preserve”–a rumored safe haven for hybrids like himself.
