10 Great Movies That Street Fighter Fans Need to See

~~Arguably~~ The most important fighting game series of all time (sorry, Mortal Kombat), Street Fighter's influence extends far beyond video games into comics, cartoons, film, and just pop culture in general. From humble beginnings in the arcade, it was the sequel, Street Fighter II, that catapulted the series into the mainstream (and also made it available for the first time on home video game consoles). In the almost 40 years since its debut, Street Fighter has gotten its fair share of games, anime, manga, and even a rather questionable live action film (which spawned an even more questionable game).

However, a hopefully not-so-questionable live action film is upon us with the release of this year's aptly titled, Street Fighter. While the plot certainly appears to deviate from the source material in some obvious ways, the movie does get some credit for having a good (albeit weird) cast (see for yourself) and characters who are reasonably close in appearance to their video game counterparts (how they thought that Jean-Claude Van Damme could pass as Guile in 1994 is truly baffling).

So, in honor of Street Fighter (2026), we've selected some films with a sufficient amount of fighting, revenge, and/or martial arts tournaments to hold you over until you can hit up your local theater (or wait until streaming).
