10 Video Game Inspired Comics to Prepare for The Super Mario Bros. Movie

Adapting video games into any medium is tricky business. While there’s an occasional winner, like the Sonic the Hedgehog or Detective Pikachu films, most adaptations range from tolerable (Mortal Kombat, Resident Evil) to attempts that manage to, well, let’s just say, miss the mark (Street Fighter, the original Super Mario Bros., and, of course, Assassin’s Creed). While comics inspired by video games are far from perfect, there are nonetheless quite a few worth checking out if you need more adventures from your favorite in-game characters. Whether you’re looking for intense re-imaginings of classic heroes like Injustice or more light-hearted escapades like Mega Man, we’ve got plenty from which to choose.
