Horror and B-Movies, to the delight of their fans, have a long, near-symbiotic history of pushing back against high-brow cinema. Initially used to describe the less-publicized, low budget second half of a double feature, the term “B-Movie” has come to embody a much broader definition that includes films with minimal financial backing, but also those with crude production values or less-than-politically-correct creative choices. While the horror genre and its countless subgenres often make astute critiques of society and reflect very real cultural anxieties, their tendency to challenge traditional notions of taste and morality mean that they are no strangers to B-Movie status. However, to many horror fans today who love the unpolished, rough-around-the-edges aesthetic of such films, it is often a badge of honor to be labeled as a B-Movie. So get into the Halloween spirit with these spooky, hilarious, and bewildering horror gems. They might not all be good, but some are definitely so bad that they’re good.
