The Hispanic community is large and racially diverse. Being of mixed race background has created a unique history for Hispanic people of all shades. Being Afro-Latino, then, is being a minority within a minority.
It’s important to share the voices of Afro-Latinos so their perspectives can be heard. In the past, Afro-Latino authors had difficulties publishing books about their experiences and depicting characters with their racial background. Today, there are more opportunities for Afro-Latino authors to represent themselves and their heritage than ever before. The books in this list highlight and showcase Afro-Latino authors, characters, and true accounts from Afro-Latino people.
