15 Comics for Fans of Sandman

With a Sandman show on the horizon, it goes without saying that expectations are high—after all, Neil Gaiman’s magnum opus is one of the most critically acclaimed comics of all time and among the very few books that indisputably belongs in the canon of graphic literature. Following Dream of the Endless, Sandman’s brilliance lies in Gaiman’s ability to take supernatural beings who are billions of years old and imbue them with a sense of humanity. I hesitate to say these selections are like Sandman (because nothing is truly like Sandman), however, they’re a good place to start if you need sophisticated fantasy tales rooted in mythology, history, literature, and/or folklore to hold you over until August 5th.

For more great comics (including Sandman), make sure to check out the offerings of your local Library branch as well as the hoopla app.
