In 1969, over the course of six Sundays the Harlem Cultural Festival was born. Filling Harlem with the mighty sounds of Mahalia Jackson, Stevie Wonder, Nina Simone, Sly and The Family Stone and Gladys Knight and the Pips just to name a few. Festival Footage was kept hidden for over 50 years. In 2021, a motion picture was created entitled Summer of Soul and introduced the world to this ground-breaking festival.

Join us at King Road Branch on February 17 from 2 – 4 p.m. for a Summer of Soul film screening. While you wait, listen to the captivating songs and musicians from the Harlem Cultural Festival.
