A Library Card for the Digital Age
Posted on April 26, 2017
Raise your hand if you love eMedia? What’s not to love? It’s easy. It’s convenient. It’s literally right at your fingertips.
As part of the Library’s on-going goal of making it easier than ever to access our materials and services, we recently launched a new eMedia library card that customers can sign-up for and receive entirely online!
What’s the difference between our eMedia card and traditional library card?
Ohio residents who complete and qualify for a Toledo Lucas County Public Library (TLCPL) card using our online form will receive an eMedia card via email within 7 days.
With your TLCPL eMedia card, you will have full access to all of our online databases, eBooks, eAudiobooks, eMagazines, music, and movies!
What if I decide I’d like to borrow a print book, DVD, or other type of physical item?
Stop into one of our 20 locations, show us your picture ID with current address and sign a borrower’s agreement! We will replace your eMedia card with a full library card and you’ll be able to check-out materials that day.
Children that want to borrow physical materials will also need to come to one of our buildings and can get a Kids Card or will need to have their parents with them to get a full feature juvenile account.
Do you offer any other types of library cards?
Yes! We offer the following types of library cards:
• Adult Card – For age 17+ • Juvenile Card – For ages 0-16 • Senior Card – For adults 60+ • Kids Card – For ages 0-16 • Ability Card – For disabled adults age 17+ • Organization Card – For Ohio organizations, businesses, & educational institutions • Childcare Card – For Child Care facilities • School Access Card – For Lucas County Schools • Military Card – For active duty and military veterans
