Asian and Black Stories for AAPI Heritage Month

The month of May is Asian American/Pacific Islander Heritage Month, and the Toledo Library’s African American Appreciation Coalition (AAAC) is celebrating along with its fellow POC. This book list features characters who intersect, intermingle, or are of mixed heritage themselves.
Asian and Black solidarity dates back further than many realize, with one of our featured books having the only known stories of a Black man in ancient Japan. Asian Americans and Black Americans also have a long civil rights history, with both groups fighting against oppression and racism. While each of our communities faces unique and challenging situations, we know that coming together can only make us stronger.
