ROS: Who was that?

GUIL: I didn’t see him.

ROS: I hardly knew him. He’s changed.

GUIL: Has he?

ROS: Originally a Czech—

GUIL: But he bounced–

ROS: Then a terminally cerebral author of Beckettian Shakespeare pastiches—

GUIL: And we’re forever grateful—

ROS: Thereafter an Oscar and Tony winner, chronicler of knotty histories and explorer of complicated emotional terrain.

GUIL: That’s a long trip.

ROS: Rough crossing.

GUIL: Knighted by the Queen, to boot.

ROS: Which queen?

GUIL: Is there a choice?

ROS: I’m leaving.

GUIL: Can’t.

ROS: Why not?

GUIL: Every exit is an entrance somewhere else. So even when you think you’re going, you’re actually arriving.

ROS: Discouraging.

GUIL: Not for Tom Stoppard at this particular moment in time.

ROS: Who?
