The Pura Belpré Award was established in 1996 and was named after the first Latina librarian at the New York Public Library. This year’s winners include Where Wonder Grows by Xelena González and illustrated by Adriana M. Garcia, Frizzy by Claribel A. Ortega and illustrated by Rose Bousamra, and Burn Down, Rise Up by Vincent Tirado. Check out the winners and honor books below.
