This month, Toledo Lucas County Public Library customers can join fellow readers across the country in an online book club. A new program, the Libraries Transform Book Pick, provides unlimited access to a specific eBook for two weeks. This means no waitlists when requesting a digital copy. Readers simply need a Toledo Library card and the popular Libby app.

“After the Flood,” by author Kassandra Montag, is available for download through Oct. 21. It details life a century from now, after rising floodwaters destroy America’s coastal cities and much of its heartland. All that remains are mountaintop colonies surrounded by open water. The American Library Association and OverDrive created Libraries Transform Book Pick to promote increased reading. Every public library in the country with OverDrive can lend unlimited digital copies of “After the Flood” during this time. Readers are encouraged to join a large discussion about this timely novel. One way to take part is on social media using the hashtag #LTBookPick.

While exploring the Libby app, be sure to peruse Toledo Library’s extensive eBook and eAudiobook collection. The Library also hosts myriad book clubs that span book types, age groups and locations. Interested readers can visit The Under 200 Club, Feminist Book Group and Science Fiction Book Group.
