Next month, the first ever Toledo Comic Arts Festival (TolCAF) is happening at Main Library. With an online book discussion (with the book’s author!) occurring on (Th) Nov. 2 and all in-person activities on (Sa) Nov. 4, TolCAF has something for almost every comics fan.

TolCAF promotes the diversity of comics from a wide range of creators, encouraging comics reading, and celebrating visual literacy. Featuring workshops, lectures, keynote speakers, and more for comics fans of all ages, TolCAF brings people together with comics.

Hop online on Nov. 2 for a fun conversation with a comics creator, or come down to Main Library on Nov. 4 from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. for programs, workshops, a Creator Fair, and more.

Thursday November 2 – Online

Online Comic Book Group with Special Guest Pornsak Pichetshote | 7 – 8 p.m. | Zoom

TolCAF is proud to present a special edition of the Library’s Online Comic Book Group featuring special guest Pornsak Pichetshote, in partnership with Image Comics.

We’ll discuss The Good Asian: 1936 Deluxe Edition, the thought-provoking and artistically striking noir detective story set in 1936 San Francisco.

The Good Asian: 1936 Deluxe Edition collects the Eisner-award-winning hit in one complete volume alongside special bonus content. The Good Asian follows Edison Hark – a haunted, self-loathing Chinese-American detective on the trail of a killer in 1936 San Francisco – in a noir mystery exploring the first generation of Americans to come of age under an immigration ban: the Chinese, as they’re besieged by rampant murders, abusive police, and a world that seemingly never changes.

Print: The Good Asian Vols. 1 & 2 | The Good Asian: 1936 Deluxe Edition

Image Comics is a comic book and graphic novel publisher founded in 1992 by a collective of bestselling artists. Image has since become the third largest comics publisher in the United States, publishing comics and graphic novels in nearly every genre and style imaginable.
