Important changes will be made to the way holds are handled for eBooks and audiobooks in the Libby app. Currently, holds never expire. But effective September 1, 2024, holds in Libby/OverDrive will be canceled if not checked out within one year of being placed. Making these changes will allow for shorter wait times and it will allow TLCPL a greater degree of flexibility in purchasing additional titles for you to enjoy. This change also aligns eBook and audiobook hold parameters with our physical material holds.

Now is the perfect time to learn how to use tags in Libby to track titles you want to read later. Libby has made tagging even easier by moving the tag icon to the bottom menu for easy access.

To tags titles in Libby to save titles for later, follow the steps below:

Step 1: Browse or search for titles in Libby

Step 2: Select “Tag” to create a tag of your choice

To Create a New Tag:

Step 1: Select “Create a New Tag”

Step 2: Add a name and description for your tag

Step 3: Select “Create” to complete the process

With recent Libby updates, Tags are easier to find on the main navigation bar.

Now, you’ll be able to relax and savor the titles you have time to read now while setting aside others for later. This is a great alternative to keeping track of paper lists or placing more items on hold than you have time to read or listen to in the short term. Tip: If you use multiple devices to access Libby, you’ll need to synchronize your shelf the next time you open Libby (you’ll find this option under “actions”). That way you’ll have all your most up-to-date items at your disposal (borrows, holds, tags). For more information on using tags in Libby, visit Libby Help in the app or online.
