Making A Difference With Make U Mobile Art Labs

Painting Class at the Sylvania Branch Library - photo by Katie Midgley.Between January and April, the Toledo Lucas County Public Library (TLCPL) presented 41 Make U Mobile Art Lab programs at the Sanger, Washington, Sylvania, Kent and Main Children’s Library. 352 children between the ages of 6 and 14 explored art in a variety of forms and media, and were able to interact with the professional artists who taught several of the Labs. These instructors are working artists who were able to give quality art education to our youngest library customers; an aspect that impressed and delighted parents and caregivers.

Students taking advantage of the Make U Mobile Art Labs had the opportunity to meet new friends while being creatively inspired to experiment with new and in some cases unusual art forms. Librarians, parents, and children welcomed the opportunity to learn more about creativity and art. We are excited to share that there will be even more opportunities for children and adults to participate in the Make U Mobile Art Lab programs. We encourage anyone who is interested in these programs to contact the West Toledo Branch Library about their Make U Mobile Art Labs this summer and to keep an eye on TLCPL’s Programs & Events section of the website for more classes in the future!
