Founded in 2018 by pet photographer Kerry Jordan, National Dog Photography Day is a lighthearted holiday that encourages pup owners and photography enthusiasts to capture and share high-quality images of their dogs to celebrate their unique personalities. Best tips:

  1. Shoot at your dog’s eye level rather than standing and looking down at them, which creates a much more intimate, engaging portrait.
  2. Use natural light: Head outside or sit near a large window to get beautifully illuminated eyes and fur.
  3. Grab their attention: Keep treats or a squeaky toy right next to your camera lens to ensure your pup looks directly into the camera.
  4. Most of all, share online: Post your favorite shots to Instagram or Facebook using the official hashtag #NationalDogPhotographyDay so dog lovers worldwide can see them.
