Perry Mason – one part attorney, the other part detective – has seen many iterations over the years. First appearing in 1933, the character has shown up in novels, films, radio, television, and comic book. The current version airing on HBO stars Matthew Rhys in the titular role as he solves cases and doles out justice in Depression-era Los Angeles.
