The ideas in the following books might be included on sites like Pinterest, but you have to admit, it is pretty gratifying to leaf through actual pages in different titles to find just those right, best, perfect ideas. Maybe that preference is just the librarian in me coming out…Happy Halloween!

Great Pumpkins: Crafty Carvings for Halloween

A compact book, it provides some seriously unique crafting ideas. The beginning of this book is quite helpful. It tells you what tools are good to use, most of which are in your home, as well as other supplies you will need, how to pick the pumpkin for the carving and much more! This book covers ideas ranging from a traditional fall project to seriously scientific and specific tips and tricks to bring that craft to perfection. I can’t wait to get a hold of my pumpkins this year and start carving them!

I love this title because it is such a well-rounded, all-inclusive Halloween prep book! It covers party planning, costume making, yard décor and much, much more. My favorite section is the party planning shown here.

Another carving book similar to the first entry listed above, but guess what it includes? Gourds and squashes! Did the title give it away? Sorry… This book includes super-unique designs and ideas for all those fall harvest items. Carving techniques, tools and especially funky squash ideas encompass the book. My favorite is the acorn squash carving, probably because I hate carving an acorn squash. Have you ever tried slicing them and frying them with an egg in the middle? It’s worth the effort but cutting it is horribly difficult.

Skip the bread bowl, let’s talk about pumpkin pots! Look at this recipe for “Autumn Glory”… Seriously, it’s low carb! I bet it could be Keto… but please don’t hold me to that. I love how this little book is laid out — it offers great ideas on each page and isn’t overwhelming like some titles.

You will think a British Christmas crashed into an American Halloween after seeing these featured Halloween Party Crackers! I wonder if you could put paper crowns inside them? This is what gamers call “Hardcore Mode”. Top notch crafts guys… top notch.

My reaction: what is THAT? Thinking it was some sort of disgusting melon, but really it is just a nice bread roll. This book is my favorite overall.

Calling all witches and warlocks :fearful: this one is for you! Included inside are not simply Halloween decorations, they are Samhain decorations. I love these. You will love these. We love these.

I am not even going to share a picture of something I like in this book because I am just too spooked out. As much as I love Halloween, I am a “fraidy cat”! If I were hosting my middle school son’s Halloween party, this is the book I would use… and I would know beforehand that kids would leave the party shaking.

Just look at this! I am a traditionalist when it comes to costumery. I like vampires, werewolves, Frankenstein’s monster, mummies and the like as costume possibilities. But look here at what I found in this cute book. This little lass is dressed up as a Witch’s Spell Book. What? Brilliant!
