Presidents’ Day is a federal holiday meant to honor all persons who have served as President of the United States. So far, that’s been a total of 46 people. Getting the job is a tall prospect for any individual who qualifies (must be at least 35 years of a age, a natural born citizen of the United States, and have lived in the US for at least 14 years). Some oddsmakers put the odds of any one person becoming President at roughly 1 in 300,000,000. Each of us has better odds of winning the Powerball lottery drawing, getting struck by lightning, or making an NBA roster.
While this list is not comprehensive of every President, here are some books highlighting the accomplishments of a few of the people who have served the office. And if you don’t see your favorite President on this list, don’t worry: the Library has books on every US President.
