This World Listening Day, Stop Talking and Start Listening

Between constant phone notifications, advertisements, and the general barrage of stimuli that come with merely existing in the age of the Internet and social media, is there anything more deserving of its own day than listening? Founded in 2010, World Listening Day is of course an important reminder to put down the phone and pay a little more attention to those around you, but equally important is listening to your environment—not only the sounds of nature, but also the causes that are calling for our attention in order to make the world a cleaner, healthier, more vibrant place. So this World Listening Day, let’s take things a little more slowly and try to be more intentional about what we allow into our overworked ears and brains. And if you need some help, these books are a great place to start.
