With Toledo Library App, Customers Experience New Digital Services

Posted 6 months ago by Ryan Dunn

Next time a novel catches your eye at the bookstore or a friend’s house, try reaching for your phone.

The new Toledo Library App is loaded with features that place Library services into your pocket. One in particular makes saving money a snap. With the app’s “Scan for Availability” button, simply hold your phone’s camera over the back barcode of a book. The app then checks whether it’s available for borrowing from the Library catalog. Then, you can request it through your account.

And during your next Library visit, feel free to pick up your items and self-checkout with the app. You similarly scan the material’s attached Library barcode with the phone camera. It’s a convenient way to grab what you need and go.

“I hope our app developments show the Library is listening to the community, that we are invested in what’s important to them, and we are trying to meet them where they are,” said Andy Lechlak, digital strategist for the Library.

There a number of options on the app within an intuitive layout. You can:

  • Search, renew and check out materials
  • Access and update your Library card account
  • Find upcoming programs for all ages and interests
  • Get location details, directions and hours
  • Reserve a meeting room
  • Connect with the Library over social media

Customer surveys have found a strong interest in a Library app.

“Everyone wants an app on their phone. It’s a quick link to the information they are requesting,” Lechlak said.

It’s now easier than ever to discover all the Library has to offer. Download the Toledo Library App now for free on the Apple App Store or Google Play! See for yourself why customers are already giving rave reviews to the product.
