Celebrate Smokey Bear’s 80th birthday by joining his reading challenge at the Toledo Library! The Smokey Bear Reading Challenge is geared toward children ages 4 to 10, but all ages are welcome. It runs from (M) Sept. 16 to (Sa) Oct. 19 and prizes will be given to those who complete it.
 
To register, either pick up a tracker at any Library location or sign in to your Beanstack account. 
 
To complete the challenge, read three books (preferably on the outdoors, fire safety, or nature) and earn four badges from the eight activities. Badge activities include:
  • Take the Smokey Bear pledge (required)
  • Campfire safety
  • Career exploration
  • Learn about Smokey Bear
  • Make a difference
  • Nature Adventure
  • Tree Exploration
  • Wildfire Science
Prizes include a Smokey Bear book, coloring book, or retro Smokey Bear magnet. All prizes must be picked up by (Sa) Nov. 2.
