Romantic Reads: Contemporary Romance

According to a study conducted by the Romance Writers of America, romance books are the second highest of all book sales.  While romance books all typically have the same basic elements of a love story and a happy ending, the content of the books can vary widely across subgenres.  Because libraries are listed as the number one place people go for their romance books, I thought we would take a closer look at books in each subgenre through a series of blogs.  

The first, and possibly largest, subgenre we are going to look at is contemporary romance.  These books focus heavily on romantic relationships and are set in more present times.  Contemporary romance is becoming much more diverse in character and author, with more realistic characters and storylines.  The books in this list reflect that change toward diverse, realistic contemporary romance.
