General Observations
- The children’s area could use more identity at eye-level. Most of the identifiers are either at ceiling height or lower on the floor.
- The circulation desk creates a barrier to the self-checkout area.
- The self-checkout machines are slightly hidden on the backside of holds.
- Can see through most of the space nicely; it is open and airy.
- Consider an alternative arrangement that breaks up the stack area and provides opportunities for display.
- Consider an alternate arrangement for public computers that gives users more space to spread out at stations. Also consider incorporating some two-person stations.
- Good integration of materials and seating in the courtyard area. Consider applying this same idea to the rest of the collection.
- Consider reconfiguring service points to create more distance between them and provide better oversight throughout the library.
In spring 2024, the Library sent a survey to the Lucas County community to learn what you love about your Library and how we could improve our buildings to better meet your needs. This is what 155 Reynolds Corners neighbors said they wanted in an updated space.

Originally part of the Lucas County Library System, the Branch opened in 1958 in a rented storefront. In July 1975, Reynolds Corners Branch moved to a 6,000-square-foot location in a strip mall storefront. Finally, in April 1985, the current 15,000-square-foot location opened. By 1998, the building needed a second entrance and additional parking. In 2009, the Branch received a silver distinction in the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) category.
